Arsenal is closing in on appointing their replacement for Arsene Wenger, with Unai Emery set to be confirmed as the club’s new manager this week. It was initially expected that Mikel Arteta, who is a part of Manchester City’s coaching staff, would be the man to fill the void left by Wenger in the managerial hot-seat. However, it appears as though Arsenal have pulled the plug on the deal, with Emery now set to sign a deal to take the reins at the Emirates. The Spaniard was recently sacked by PSG due to his shortcomings in the Champions League. This was despite Emery leading them to Ligue 1 glory and triumph in the Coupe de France. A major overhaul of the Arsenal squad is expected this summer and it appears as though Emery will be the man who works alongside head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat in orchestrating the transfer dealings. So, without further ado, take a look at some players who Emery has previously managed who may be targeted by Arsenal this summer!
STEVEN N'ZONZI
Emery was the man who got the very best out of Steven N’Zonzi at Sevilla. Arsenal has been previously linked with a move for the Frenchman and with Emery incoming, it could be a match made in heaven for N’Zonzi and the Gunners.
LAYVIN KURZAWA

LAYVIN KURZAWA
Kurzawa has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League and with Arsenal in need of extra quality at left-back, he could be a target. Emery often utilised Kurzawa and saw the defender play well in large parts of the Ligue 1 and Champions League campaigns respectively.
KEVIN TRAPP

KEVIN TRAPP
Trapp worked under Emery at PSG and with Arsenal’s goalkeeping woes well documented, he could be an interesting option. Mislintat will also have a wide knowledge of Trapp following his ventures in the Bundesliga as Eintracht Frankfurt’s starting goalkeeper some years ago.
SERGIO RICO

SERGIO RICO
Arsenal may be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper this summer and Emery worked alongside Rico during his stint with Sevilla. The shot-stopper is 24-years-old and has enjoyed another good season in Spain. He’d be a good understudy, or even replacement, for Petr Cech.
VITOLO

VITOLO
Vitolo was a key player under Emery at Sevilla and could be a good fit for Arsenal this summer. The Gunners lack natural wide players and Vitolo is capable of playing on the left or right. It could prove to be a shrewd addition to Emery’s revolution at Arsenal.
PRESNEL KIMPEMBE

PRESNEL KIMPEMBE
Fresh blood is needed in central defence at Arsenal and Kimpembe could be the man to spark the back-line back into life. Emery handed Kimpembe the chance to shine at PSG and he duly delivered, nailing down a place in the club’s starting line-up. It’d be a difficult deal to pull off, but very few defenders are more promising than Kimpembe in world football.
